Computer is not an acronym, it is a word derived from a word "compute" which means to calculate. So, in simple words you can say that computer is an simple electronic device which used for fast calculation.

Some people say that COMPUTER stands for Common Operating Machine Purposely Used for Technological and Educational Research.

A computer is a electric machine that can be programmed to accept data, process data into useful information and store it for later use.

Computer can do many different jobs because they are programmable.

 

People use computers for different work. In school, Students use computer for task such as writing papers, searching for articles, sending Emails and participating in online classes.

At work, people use computer to analyze data, make presentation, conduct business transactions, communicate with customers. At home, people use computers for tasks such as paying bills, shopping online, social networking and playing computer games. The use of computer are almost limitless in our lives.

Computers can do such a wide variety of things they can be programmed.
